Auto Glass

Embracing Complexity

Tsawwassen Collision is accredited in the ICBC Glass Express Repair program and also the more rigorous ARA Certified Glass Service. When your windshield, rear or side glass is damaged or broken, you can bring it straight to us without a need for a call to ICBC. The claim is processed electronically at your first visit to our facility. We also provide full service to all other insurance companies but with these you do need to call the company claim line for a claim number before we start the work.

Windshield Chip Repair – A Clear Choice

  • When it comes to windshield chip repairs, ICBC has you covered, and there’s no deductible to worry about.
  • Just like with windshield replacement, there’s no requirement to contact ICBC beforehand. Simply drive into our facility, and our experts will assess the damage.
  • In most cases, if the chip is not directly in the driver’s line of sight, doesn’t exceed about an inch in size, and is more than three inches from the glass’s edge, we can perform a successful repair, often while you wait on that first visit.
  • Private insurance companies have varying coverage for chip repair. A call to their claim line will provide the information on how they cover windshield chips on your policy.
  • If there is no insurance coverage a $75 chip repair is much less than the cost of a new windshield.
  • Our chip repair won’t magically erase the chip, but it will vastly improve its visibility and, more importantly, prevent it from expanding into a full-blown crack, sparing you the need for a complete windshield replacement.

Auto Glass FAQs

1. Why are calibrations needed after a windshield replacement or collision repair?

Many newer vehicles have cameras located behind or near the windshield. These cameras may support features such as lane departure warnings and can work with other sensors for systems such as emergency braking and adaptive cruise control.

Even a small change in camera position can affect how these systems interpret the road, which is why calibration may need to be verified after certain repairs.

2. Can a windshield replacement affect vehicle safety systems?

Yes. Many vehicles have cameras mounted near or behind the windshield. Even a small change in camera position can affect how driver assistance systems interpret road conditions.

3. Why are cameras behind the windshield important after glass replacement?

Cameras located near or behind the windshield can support driver assistance functions such as lane departure warnings.

Because their position can affect how they interpret the road ahead, their calibration may need to be verified after windshield replacement.

4. Does every windshield have a camera that requires calibration?

Not every vehicle uses the same technology. Many newer vehicles have cameras near or behind the windshield, so the vehicle’s equipment and required repair procedures need to be considered when determining whether calibration is necessary.
